Project III

The objective of this project was to open up the house to make the rooms more spacious and usable for our client’s growing family. In renovation work such as this, we are always dedicated to making the addition as cohesive and seamless as possible, both inside and out. We challenge anyone driving past to show us where the new addition meets the old.

Project Details

We were engaged to take on the construction of an addition and renovation of an existing 1930’s character home in the charming Nutana neighbourhood. The project involved an addition of 650 square feet onto three stories beside the original house, adding almost 2,000 square feet of useable space. This includes a full basement and two levels above-grade. As part of this renovation, all original lath and plaster walls were to be removed and replaced with spray foam and drywall. All electrical was rewired and replaced with new wiring and modern light fixtures. A second furnace and air conditioner were added as well as an HRV to keep the air comfortable and fresh.

The old roof was entirely removed and replaced with a new roof system that was also designed for future solar panels. The new roof, windows, and exterior are designed to match the look of the original house and to ensure it still fits in with the character of the neighbourhood. New flooring, custom millwork, coffered ceilings, two new sets of stairs as well as many other custom additions will allow this house to be enjoyed for another 80+ years!
